Scope3: Beyond What You Burn and Buy

Scope 3 in GHG emissions

Refers to the concept of reducing greenhouse gas emissions through the adoption of a circular economy model, which aims to keep materials and products in use for as long as possible, minimize waste, and regenerate natural systems. This approach can significantly reduce GHG emissions across the value chain by focusing on reuse, recycling, and designing out waste from production processes.

Equipment Maintenance

In Scope 3 GHG emissions, equipment maintenance refers to the indirect emissions associated with the upkeep and repair of machinery and equipment. These emissions arise from activities such as manufacturing replacement parts, transporting technicians or materials, and using energy-intensive processes during maintenance. Proper maintenance can help extend equipment life, improve efficiency, and reduce the overall carbon footprint, while also minimizing the need for energy-intensive replacements or repairs.

Preventive Maintenance

Preventive maintenance is regular, planned maintenance scheduled according to usage or time-based triggers. The purpose of PM is to lessen the likelihood of equipment failure and unplanned machine downtime.

Predictive Maintenance

Predictive maintenance techniques are designed to use condition monitoring tool to determine the health status / condition of machine in order to estimate when maintenance should be performed.

Corrective Maintenance

Corrective maintenance is any task that corrects a problem with an asset and returns it to proper working order. Corrective maintenance tasks can be both planned and unplanned.

Materials

In Scope 3 GHG emissions, materials refer to the emissions generated during the extraction, production, transportation, and disposal of raw materials used by a company. These emissions are embedded in the supply chain and include the energy used to produce, process, and transport materials, as well as waste management. By choosing sustainable materials, optimizing resource use, and working with suppliers to reduce emissions, companies can significantly lower their Scope 3 carbon footprint.

Environment Product Declaration (EPD)

We have launched the pilot phase of our Green Offer to allow our customers – installers, industry and infrastructures – to purchase products based on a sustainability rating.

This development elevates the most sustainable and energy-efficient solutions, helping customers make sustainable choices, master their carbon footprint, and pass on energy savings to the end-user.
